The medium of Study: English and Russian
Course Duration: 6 years for MBBS 5 years for B.D.S and Pharmacy
Eligibility: He / She should have obtained aggregate 50% marks in the Physics / Chemistry / Biology in the 12th standard. As per the requirement of the Medical Council of India, for medical course, all reserved category students having aggregate 40% marks could also apply. There are no entrances examinations and the admissions are strictly on a first come first served basis.
2. As per the requirements of the Medical Council of India Act, students need to apply to the MCI for an “eligibility certificate” prior to their joining any medical institution outside India. This eligibility certificate is not required at the time of making the application to the Medical University in Russia. However, the application to the Medical Council of India for the eligibility certificate needs to be made before leaving for Russia.
Degree Awarded: The degree awarded would be the M.D (Physician), which is the basic degree equivalent to the M.B.B.S in India. The degree M.D (Physician) should not be confused with a postgraduate qualification. In case of dentistry, the degree awarded would be B.D.S.
Screening Test: Upon returning back to India, the student would have to give a screening test conducted by the National Board of Examinations prior to registering their medical degree in India with the medical council of India. There are multiple attempts for passing this screening test and there is no negative marking. This screening exam is only to determine the medical knowledge of the student and is not of a competitive nature. The questions are of an objective nature. Cost for medical study in Russia depends upon course, university and city of studies.
English Medium: In English Medium, students can get admission directly in the first course where medical subjects are taught in English. The students who have chosen English Medium do not have to study the preparatory course. They will be admitted directly to the first course. The duration, of course, is 5.8 years.
Russian Medium: The program is the same as that of English Medium, the only difference being that the academic procedures are in Russia. After 10 months preparatory course (Russian language course), the students will be admitted in the first course. Total duration is 6.8 years.
Note: There are no scholarships or grants available from the universities or from the Russian Government since the fees itself are subsidized by the Government of the Russian Federation.
