About University:
Astana Medical University (AMU) is one of the biggest and dynamic medical universities in Kazakhstan. The AMU enjoys a high reputation in the sphere of higher medical education, has its own traditions in the area of educational services as well as in the development of medical sciences and clinical activities.
On 26th October 1964 the Council of Ministers of the Republic had adopted the resolution on the opening of a Medical Institution in Tselinograd. In 1997 the institute was reorganised into the Academy, and in January 2009 it gained the university status. Based on the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan the University entered into the structure of the National Medical Holding. It is significant that the change in the name and status of the university was followed by an increase in the number of courses and students. Moreover, the academic credit system and three-tiered system of education with Bachelor, Masters, and PhD Degrees were introduced. At present, we actively work on the introduction of innovative technologies into the educational process. The clinical bases of the University are located at the biggest national and republican centres (the subsidiary organisations of the National Medical Holding). For many years the University has been stably ranked as one of the leading medical universities in Kazakhstan. Our academic partners are the leading universities of the US, Singapore, Europe, and Russia. Further success of our graduates in finding the employment and career building confirms the quality of education we are offering.
The status of the University sets forth new objectives in the areas of medical education and science, thereby uncovering broad perspectives for the long-term sustainable development.

Recreational Facilities: Various cultural events are organized in the university. The students from various countries actively participate in these programs. The campus has many activity complexes like activity centers, cafés, canteen, a gym, sports complex, etc.
Hostels: The campus of Astana Medical University is fulfilled with all the basic amenities and other facilities. The campus has the centralized AC. There are hostel facilities for students. The hostels are well guarded with 24/7 security system. There is a well-equipped library for the students. The university offers a friendly and multicultural environment.

Rector’s Details
Shaidarov Mazhit Zeinullovich, born in 1959, is the Rector of the JCS “Astana Medical University”.
Mazhit Zeinullovich graduated from the Tselinograd State Medical Institution in 1982 on “General medicine” specialty.
From 1982 to 1997 he worked as principal laboratorian, assistant, assistant professor in Tselinograd State Medical Institution. Hereafter, he continued working career in municipal infectious diseases hospital of Astana as head doctor, headed the Department of healthcare of Astana city (2000-2005), Department of healthcare of Karaganda oblast (2005-2009), Department of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Activity Committee of the Ministry of Public Health in Astana (2009-2010).
Shaidarov M.Z. is the doctor of medical science, author of more than 70 scientific publications.
He considers that it is important to provide and keep leading position of the JCS “Astana Medical University” in the sphere of education and science, by means of refinement of the given educational services, promote development and widening of the scientific researches, improvement of the quality and effectiveness of the administrative personnel work.
