Founded: Established in 1900.
Faculty: Currently, the College has nearly 800 teaching and administrative staff and 985 clinical teachers in 3 affiliated hospitals directly under the College.
Students: At present, SUMC has nearly 9,000 internal students, including nearly 5,100 undergraduates, 2690 postgraduates (including professional degrees), 359 doctoral students and 514 overseas students. In addition, it has nearly 10,000 students for continuing education.
Alumni: Over the past century, Soochow University has fostered more than 300,000 professionals in different fields to the society, and many have become academic, political, and business elites.
Library Collection: The collection capacity has reached 3,440,000 pieces.
Faculties, Departments and Institutes:
Hospitals: It has 16 affiliated hospitals including 3 affiliated hospitals directly attached to the College, over 100 teaching practice sites, 18 external biological practice bases, and over 10 external pharmaceutical practice bases.
Recreational Facilities: Currently, the sports facilities of Soochow University include three gymnasiums, three standard track-and-field grounds, and several outdoor stadiums. With a floor area of 21,380 square meters, the indoor stadiums are divided into several subareas specifically designed for basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, aerobics, swimming, etc. Covering an area of 129,207 square meters, the outdoor stadiums also include 3 standard plastic track-and-field grounds, 56 basketball courts, 22 volleyball courts, 25 tennis courts, and 9 football fields. All these excellent stadiums and facilities have laid a solid foundation for the successful organization of physical education, mass sports activities, and related competitions and games.
