Founded: Established in 27th October 1927
Faculty and Students: There are 6,802 enrolled students including 1,579 doctoral candidates (10 oversea students), 2,014 Master degree students (48 oversea students), 2,504 undergraduates (154 oversea students), The College boasts a faculty of 455 full-time teachers and 97 full-time researchers, among whom 351 are of Senior Professional Title. The College boasts 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Xiongli Yang, Ziyin Shen, Zhengmin Wang, Junbo Ge), 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (Zhaoyou Tang, Haozhu Chen, Yudong Gu, Yumei Wen, Liangfu Zhou), 18 Cheung Kong Scholars Program professors awarded by Ministry of Education, 13 chief scientists of the National Basic Research Program (including key advanced sciences) and 22 Professors awarded by”The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholar”.
Faculties, Departments and Institutes: The Faculty now offers nine undergraduate full-time programs to about 2,000 students: Clinical Medicine (8-year curriculum), Clinical Medicine (5-year curriculum), Clinical Medicine (6-year curriculum, taught in English), Basic Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Public Health management, Pharmacy, Nursing.

- Recreational Facilities:
- Hostels: Furnished, air conditioned rooms made for international students. Rooms are furnished with TV, Telephone, Refrigerator, Washing Machine, Radiators, Air condition and other amenities. The hostels are given good protection by security guards and police booths in the University.
- MESS: Indian mess available on campus.
Chairman's speech
In 1927, the National Fourth Zhongshan University School of Medicine (now “Fudan University Shanghai Medical College”) was founded. This is the first higher medical school founded by the Chinese, and Mr. Yan Fuqing is the first dean. Mr. Yan Fuqing is a famous medical educator and public health scientist in modern China. He devoted his life to the medical education of the motherland. “It is not good for its friendship, and its merits are not merits.” This is his life’s own self. Admonition has become the professional ethical standard of Chinese physicians.
In order to commemorate the outstanding achievements of Mr. Yan Fuqing, he promoted the spirit of “Zhengyi Mingdao” advocated by him, and at the same time, it was also to unite the power of alumni and all walks of life to jointly promote the development of Shanghai Medical College and establish the Yan Fuqing Medical Education Development Fund to accept the society. Donations, the funds raised will be mainly used to support the Shanghai Medical College’s personnel training, discipline construction, scientific research, infrastructure construction and cultural construction.
The development of Shanghai Medical College has gathered the hard work of the sages, and it is also inseparable from the help of all walks of life.
