Founded: Established in 1912.
Faculty: With the first class faculty team, numerous top scientific talents have been attracted to join the big family, ZUSM. Up to now, the total number full-time professors has reached to 1031 including 497 supervisors of Ph.D. candidates, 1097 supervisors of Master candidates, and among them there are 3 members of China Academy of Sciences, 5 members of China Academy of Engineering, 10 members of Cheung Kong Chair Professor, 48 State”1000-elite Program” Experts (including “1000 Young Talent Plan” Professors), and 15 winners of National Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar.
Students: Currently, ZUSM has accommodates a total of over 6,300 students, including 2500 undergraduates, 1700 Master’s Candidates, 1500 Doctoral Candidates and 600 international students.
Faculties, Departments and Institutes: It has been authorized to set up five mobile post-doctoral stations and 8 first-level discipline doctoral degree programs, for example Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine and oral medicine. The School is composed of 10 departments: School of Basic Medicine, School of Public Health, 1st Clinical Medicine, 2nd Clinical Medicine, 3rd Clinical Medicine, 4th Clinical Medicine, School of Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Pediatrics, School of Stomotolagy and School of Nursing.
Hospitals: Zhejiang University Faculty of Medicine boasts of 6 Grade III Class A hospitals, namely, The First Affiliated Hospital, The Second Affiliate Hospital, Sir Run Shaw Hospital, The Affiliated Women’s Hospital, The Affiliated Children’s Hospital, and The Affiliated Dental Hospital. With a total capacity of over 7700 beds, all 6 hospitals had 8780,000 emergency visits, 238,000 inpatients, and total operating revenue 6.233 billion Yuan.

Message from the Dean
Zhejiang University School of Medicine is located in a beautiful, historical, and cultural city Hangzhou, which is 180 kilometers southwest of Shanghai and known as “the paradise on earth” in China. With more than 100 years’ history of medical school and 150 years’ history of hospitals, the School of Medicine is proud to make significant contribution to the initiation of modern medicine in China. We are committed to continuing this tradition into the future, in order to reach our goal to become one of the best medical schools in China with international reputation.
The School of Medicine is also proud to have 7 affiliated hospitals. I believe that it is essential to set up a solid platform to conduct translational research that will promote the integration of the basic sciences with clinical practice, and ultimately to improve patient care. The fast growing economy and modernizing society we are facing today provide new opportunities and pose more challenges to the biomedical scientists and clinicians in China. We invite highly motivated students, biomedical researchers, and clinicians to join us with the aim of creating an environment for excellence in education, research, and patient care.
